Reflection on Situating Tool

Situating tools falls as one of a category of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools that situates learners in an environments where they can engage actively with the subject matter in real or simulated settings. Such tools helps learners to connect classroom learning with real-life contexts, making abstract concepts more concrete and meaningful. Situating tools are valuable especially in subjects such as Geography, science, and history, where exploring actual places, phenomena, or situations better enhances the understanding. By immersing learners in authentic experiences, situating tools foster learning through experience and deeper comprehension. One widely used situating tool is Google Earth, A virtual globe that gives detailed satellite image and 3D renderings of geographical location around the Earth/ Through Google Earth, students can explore continents, countries, and particular landmarks form various perspectives. This allows learners too visualize locations, observe the geographical and environmental features and analyze spatial relationships. This tool transforms static learning materials into an interactive explorations. In a classroom, Google Earth can be utilized to teach wide range of topics. For instance, it can assist in teaching physical geography by allowing students explore and examine mountains, river systems, and coastlines. Reflection on constructive tool.

As a teacher trainee, I have explored variety of ICT tools, and Google Docs tend to stand out as an efficient constructive tool that fosters active engagement when it comes to teaching and learning. Although I have not yet had the opportunity to experience using Google Docs wit actual students, my experience with Google Docs has helped me understand the value in an educational setting that this tool has. Google Docs allows users to create, edit and share documents through online. One of the most influential features of this tool is its real-time collaboration feature. While working in groups for assignments or also lesson plans with my peers, I found it very helpful that all the members could work on a single document and contribute at the same time, suggests things to edit and also leave comments.
